Phnom Penh to Bangkok
• I had planned to fly to Bangkok this evening, to have another day to work in Phnom Penh, but Bangkok Airways had a special promotion for their morning flight today for $103.  If I had flown in the evening, it would have cost $196.

Sign in Bangkok Christian Guest House• The Maryknoll Bangkok office is where I planned to stay for the four days I'll be in Bangkok, but when I got there, I found that the keys I had received in Phnom Penh were not the right ones.  I didn't have the phone numbers of any Maryknoll people in Bangkok—and no place to call from—so I went to the Bangkok Christian Guest House where Maryknollers often stay.  It's very convenient because it is just around the corner from the BNH Hospital.

This sign is in the BCGH.  You might anticipate the alcohol ban.  But those who don't live in Asia may not be familiar with the prohibition against durian, a tropical fruit known to "Taste like heaven and smell like hell."  Most hotels and airlines prohibit durian because of the smell.

Ronald McDonald, Thai-style

• I went to BNH Hospital after I got settled and checked on the preparations necessary for the medical tests tomorrow.  Then I went to McDonald's and found they have a new menu item—at least here in Thailand, a grilled chicken foldover.  Not bad!  You can tell McD's wants to inculturate.  Where else would Ronald McDonald greet visitors with a "wai," the traditional folded hands and bow of Thai culture.
