Trip to Thailand
and United States

July-August, 2009

28 July 2009 (Tuesday)

Today was split between New York and Kentucky, with most of the day spent in airports on a flight from White Plains, NY to Louisville via Chicago.
In the morning, Charlie met at Bethany with Alicia Butkiewicz, the Director of Mission, and Sam Stanton, the Executive Director of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, to talk about ideas for recruiting.

After that meeting, it was off to the airport with Dave Loretan. The Maryknoll car had a problem with its brakes, though, so we went back and used Dave's car. Then there was the usual wait in the C Concourse of Chicago's O'Hare airport where Charlie spends a lot of time. The flight from here was delayed because they couldn't find the right-sized towbar to push the aircraft back from the gate.

In Kentucky, Jane Dittmeier Browne picked Charlie up at the airport and transported him to the Davis family's house where he spent the night. The Davises were preparing to leave on vacation the next day, and Mike and Bailey were putting the carrier on top of the van.

Inside, Mary, Sara, and Amy Davis talked about what still needed to be done before the next day's departure.
