July-August, 2009

2 August 2009 (Sunday)

Today was a day of celebrations. First there were the two celebrations of the liturgy with the St. Dominic's community in Springfield, Kentucky; then a celebration with my brothers and sisters in Louisville;, and then a celebration with my cousin's family in the evening.
Fr. Culpepper Elliott is the pastor of St. Dominic Church in Springfield, Kentucky, and was a most gracious and hospitable host to Charlie when he spoke at that parish.

St. Dominic Church has undergone a recent renovation and enlargement and has embarked on a building campaign. They have done a really excellent job in creating an aesthetically pleasing and really functional worship space.

After returning to Louisville, Charlie joined with the brothers and sisters who were still in town and with all their children for a mini-reunion.
Charlie's nieces and nephews
Several brothers and sisters were out of town so the gathering was smaller than these usually are.
A Dittmeier family mini-gathering
After lunch with the Dittmeier brothers and sisters, supper was with the family of Judith and Bob English at their home. All of their children were able to come together for a really pleasant evening.
The English family
After dinner Charlie got together with three of the English first cousins once removed.
