Trip to United States

5 June to 7 July 2011

29 June & 1 July 2011
(Thursday and Friday)

Thursday was a travel day, from Louisville back to Maryknoll, New York. The travel by car, plane, bus, train, and taxi took most of the day.  Friday was a chance for me to catch various MKLM staff at Bethany before they left at noon to begin the Fourth of July holiday.

Passing through the Louisville and Chicago airports, I saw three generations of United Airlines livery for their aircraft.  The red and blue UA was the standard for many years but then was replaced by the UA in outline form.  Now with the merger with Continental, a stylized Continental logo is being used with the United name.

On Friday morning Richard Gatjens and I went to pick up the Maryknoll car used for speaking in churches in the Northeast.  Unfortunately it was still on the rack getting new brakes, and we had to come back in the afternoon to retrieve it.

At the seminary building, the headquarters for the Maryknoll priests and brothers, a 30-foot sign has been draped on the tower as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations.
